St. Mary's R.C. Church, 1008 49th Avenue (Corner of 49th Avenue and Vernon Blvd.),Sunday at 5 p.m. Advent Prayer Service; at 5:30 p.m. Handel's "Messiah" presented by Michael Xavier Lundy and Friends (solo singers and choruses, Free - followed by a PotLuck Michael Lundy's biography - Michael Xavier Lundy is an accomplished pianist, organist and choral conductor. In 2011 he was appointed Organist and Choirmaster at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in the Bronx, as well as Artistic Director of the Sanctuary Choir for the Brooklyn Faith Seventh-Day Adventist Church, while concurrently serving as Principal Organist for the Temple Choir of the Hempstead and Horeb Seventh-Day Adventist Churches. Recently he was appointed Associate Organist and Choirmaster for St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church’s Vigil Choir in Brooklyn. Mr. Lundy serves in the ministry of church music full-time directing church choirs and serving as both organist and pianist for various churches on various occasions. As a conductor Mr. Lundy has performed cantatas and oratorios with chorus and orchestra; some of these performances can be viewed on the international media broadcasting site YouTube. Other notable performances with his church choirs include the famed Riverside Church of New York City and the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York. Mr. Lundy performed as a professional theater organist for over a decade at many of the nation’s great historic theaters and movie palaces. His performances include: Keswick Theater of Glenside, PA, Broadway Theater of Pitman, NJ, Union County Performing Arts Center of Rahway, NJ, New York Military Academy at Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY, Chaminade High School Auditorium in Mineola, NY, John Dickinson High School Auditorium in Wilmington, DE, Rice Auditorium in Catonsville, MD, Riviera Theater in North Tonawanda, NY, Brooklyn Paramount Theater (Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus) in Brooklyn, NY and Great Symphony Hall of Newark, NJ, among others.
