2012 Summer Olympics Going to London
New York was voted out in the first round which left only Paris and London to host the 2012 Olympic Summer Games. In the end the IOC voted in favor of <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2005/SPORT/07/06/singapore.olympics/index.html">London</a> as the 2012 Olympic host. Mayor Bloomberg To Unveil 2012 Olympic Village Plans
The <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/">New York Daily News</a> is reporting that <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/local/story/172091p-150119c.html">Mayor Bloomberg is set to unveil the 2012 Olympic village designs</a> today and pick a winner by May 2004. The designs will be on display in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central and at <a href="http://www.nyc2012.com">www.nyc2012.com</a>. Of course, the Olympic Village, if New York wins the 2012 Olympics, is set to be here in Long Island City. Longer #7 to West Side Jets Stadium?
Looks like the plans for the <a href="http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/">New York Jets West Side stadium</a> are picking up steam. Avalon To Hold Meeting May 5th at 7pm
Avalon has agreed to <a href="/Members/sarah/20040504">hold a meeting</a> about the proposed changes to the Avalon Riverview II (or North). The meeting is being held in the Avalon Riverview (I or South) meeting room, from 7pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 5th. 2012 Olympic Village Design Winner
As the <a href="http://www.sportsfeatures.com/PressPoint/show.php?id=8412">press release says</a> the Mayor and Governor picked <a href="http://www.nyc2012.com/village/morph.html">Morphosis and its lower buildings</a> as the design winner for the 2012 Olympic Village.
Citigroup To Build New Building in LIC
As announced and <a href="/neighborhood/discussion/00001474">covered</a> yesterday, Citigroup is going to build a new 14 story building in Long Island City next to its 48 story building. The building, set to be built by late 2006, will be home to 1,500 employees.
