2012 Summer Olympics Going to London
New York was voted out in the first round which left only Paris and London to host the 2012 Olympic Summer Games. In the end the IOC voted in favor of <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2005/SPORT/07/06/singapore.olympics/index.html">London</a> as the 2012 Olympic host. Update on The Gantry
There are now over a thousand names on the waiiting list with eleven of the forty seven apartments released and under contract. In a Astoria Times Ledger article today, the Queens Borough President Helen Marshall said that there will looking to make Long Island City more <a href="http://www.timesledger.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=10957483&BRD=1079&PAG=461&dept_id=170338&rfi=6">pedestrian-friendly</a> as part of the overall growth of Queens and looking forward to the 2012 Olympic bid.
Mayor Bloomberg To Unveil 2012 Olympic Village Plans
The <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/">New York Daily News</a> is reporting that <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/local/story/172091p-150119c.html">Mayor Bloomberg is set to unveil the 2012 Olympic village designs</a> today and pick a winner by May 2004. The designs will be on display in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central and at <a href="http://www.nyc2012.com">www.nyc2012.com</a>. Of course, the Olympic Village, if New York wins the 2012 Olympics, is set to be here in Long Island City. Longer #7 to West Side Jets Stadium?
Looks like the plans for the <a href="http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/">New York Jets West Side stadium</a> are picking up steam. Hunters Point Rezoning Approved by CB 2
The <a href="http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=11260930&BRD=1079&PAG=461&dept_id=506458&rfi=6">Astoria Times Ledger</a> is reporting that <a href="http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=11260930&BRD=1079&PAG=461&dept_id=506458&rfi=6">Community Board 2 (CB 2) has approved the plan to rezone Hunters Point</a>. The plan includes opening up the area for more artist studios and restaurants.
Avalon To Hold Meeting May 5th at 7pm
Avalon has agreed to <a href="/Members/sarah/20040504">hold a meeting</a> about the proposed changes to the Avalon Riverview II (or North). The meeting is being held in the Avalon Riverview (I or South) meeting room, from 7pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 5th. More Condos Coming
An article in the <a href="http://www.nytimes.com">New York Times</a> this morning talks not only about the known new Avalon and Rockrose buildings but <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/07/nyregion/07real.html">two new 28 story Condos to be developed just to the North of Queens West</a>.
