Longer #7 to West Side Jets Stadium?
Looks like the plans for the New York Jets West Side stadium are picking up steam. Part of the plan calls for extending the #7 subway line to curve down to 33rd street. Discussions in the Neighborhood discussion board.

"Concurrently with the investments described above, the City has developed a plan to redevelop the Hudson Yards area, which is underutilized and remarkably unproductive financially for the region. The total costs of the infrastructure will be financed separately between 2005 and 2012 and are projected to be $2.77 billion; the City announced the financing for this portion of the project in February 2004. The Hudson Yards is defined approximately as the area bounded by the south side of West 43rd Street on the north, the east side of Eleventh Avenue on the west, generally, the north side of West 27th Street and West 30th Street on the south, and the west side of Seventh and Eighth Avenues on the east. The plan includes the construction of an extension of the No. 7 subway line from its current terminus at Times Square to an area near 34th Street and 11th Avenue; the creation of a platform over what is known as the Eastern Rail Yards, from 30th & 33rd Streets between 10th & 11th Avenues, to create a six-acre park and to allow for development by private developers and cultural institutions; and infrastructure improvements by the City to the area including a new street system and parks. This comprehensive, long-term plan will create at least 70,000 of jobs including the convention center expansion that would otherwise not have been there, and 12,000 apartments, many of which will be affordable housing.
